Juice Fasting

What is Juice Fasting?
Juice fasting is a form of detoxification diet where only fruit and vegetable juices are consumed for a certain period of time. Usually, A person will embark on a juice fast for 1 to 7 days. The purpose of juice fasting is to help the body eliminate toxins and to help with weight control. Every second of every day your body is bombarded with toxins. There are toxins in the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the food we consume. There are toxins in the products we use to clean our homes, the clothes we wear, and even in the products we use to shower or bathe.

It is believed that environmental toxins accumulate in the body's eliminative glands and organs. Therefore, there are different types of juice fasting programs that target areas such as the liver, kidneys, gallbladder, skin, brain, immune system, etc.

Juice fasting is also used for spiritual purposes. Many people use juice fasting as an aide in eliminating unhealthy habits such as smoking, drinking alcohol, or caffeine addiction. Some people use juice fasting as an alternative health regime. Oftentimes, juice fasting is incorporated with other healing modalities to help combat health problems such as depression, arthritis, chronic pain, autoimmune disease, heart disease, and cancer.

The traditional way to embark on a juice fast requires a juicing machine or "juicer". There are many types of juicers available including manual, battery operated, and electrical. They range in price from $30 to $300 or more.

Also, It is recommended to use only organic fruits and vegetables when juice fasting. Unfortunately, most commercially grown fruits and vegetables contain numerous herbicides, pesticides, and fungicides. Therefore, it's crucial to purchase organic fruits and vegetables because the whole point of fasting to eliminate toxins, not put more into the body.

An alternative to the above is to use a product like "THE FEAST". It includes the best combination of Fruits, Berries, Greens, Nuts, Seeds and Sprouts in a convenient all-in-one live concentrated whole food "Instafresh Juice". It is non-pasteurized and preservative free. It also is more affordable, more convenient and provides a wider variety of fresh, live whole produce than can be gotten or even grown locally!

Juice fasting is not for everyone, so it's important to consult with a qualified health professional before embarking on a juice fast. Women who are pregnant or nursing should avoid juice fasting altogether. People with chronic health problems such as diabetes, asthma, low blood sugar
or kidney disease, cancer, colitis, or epilepsy should also avoid juice fasting unless under strict supervision from a qualified health professional.

Juice fasting can interfere with prescription drugs. It is crucial for anyone who is taking prescription medications to consult with a skilled professional to determine if juice fasting is appropriate. Grapefruit juice and pomegranate juice should never be used during a fast when a
person is taking prescription medications because they can increase the effect of drugs in the body. Also acidic fruits like orange and lemon should not be used when juice fasting as they have too much acid and can cause problems with indigestion or worse.

Common side effects of juice fasting include headaches, fatigue, constipation, acne, increased body odor and bad breath. Typically, these side effects are temporary and will disappear once juice fasting is completed.

Not only does juice fasting help eliminate toxic waste from the body, it also provides an abundant supply of vitamins, minerals and enzymes. When juicing whole, fresh fruits and vegetables, you are providing your body with a living fuel that requires no digestive energy. In turn, this gives the body a break and allows it to focus on healing and rejuvenation.

The most important thing to remember is that you should always use fresh organic
fruits and vegetables. Commercially grown produce contains high levels of toxins including herbicides, pesticides, and fungicides. If you use commercially grown fruits and vegetables for juice fasting, you are defeating the purpose as you will only be adding more toxins to the body.

While most skins of organically grown fruits and vegetables may be left on, you should remove the skins from pineapples, oranges, papaya, melons, and kiwi fruit. Certain parts of fruits and vegetables should not be juiced including the pits in fruits such as apricots, peaches and cherries. Additionally, citrus peels, apple seeds, tops of root vegetables such as carrots or rhubarb, or
the tough outer skin of bananas, plantains, and avocados should not be juiced.

The best ingredients for a juice fast include: apples, beets, cranberries, carrots, celery, cabbage, kale, pineapple, spinach, and leafy green vegetables. Other common fruits and vegetables used in juice fasting include cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli and cauliflower. Root vegetables such as sweet potatoes and yams. Greens such as parsley, kale, chard and dandelion leaf. Herbs such as ginger and wheatgrass. All of which and more are included in "THE FEAST".

Individuals who consume high levels of caffeine are likely to experience severe headaches when embarking on a juice fast. Therefore, it is recommended to gradually decrease caffeine consumption one to two weeks prior to starting a juice fast or use "The Feast Supercharged" which incorporates Guarana, Green Tea Extract, Green Coffee Bean and DMAE.

Oftentimes people who embark on a juice fast will experience skin outbreaks. This is because the skin is the most effective way for the body to eliminate toxins. Typically, these side effects are temporary and will disappear once juice fasting is completed and can also be reduced by "Dry Buffing" the skin daily with a loofah.

The Energetic Jay, "The Juiceman" Kordich tells us about the important health benefits of juicing. He should know. He reportedly cured himself of bladder cancer using an all-juice diet.
Not only did Kordich introduce the American public to juicing through his infomercials, he went on to write "The Juiceman's Power of Juicing", which became number one on the New York Times Best Sellers list with more than two millions copies sold.

The type of juice fast you embark on will depend on what you are trying to achieve. It's a good idea to conduct research via the Internet or visit your local library and check out books on the subject.
