Read The Label!

Some of the newer "super" juices tout their health benefits but have hidden substances used as preservatives that can actually be harmful!

I read the label of a very popular relatively new one and it used citric acid, sodium benzoate and potassium sulfate added as preservatives. Ascorbic acid (vitamin C, E300), sodium benzoate and potassium benzoate may form benzene, a known carcinogen. Professor Peter Piper of the University of Sheffield claims that sodium benzoate by itself can damage and inactivate vital parts of DNA in a cell's mitochondria. "The mitochondria consumes the oxygen to give you energy and if you damage it - as happens in a number of diseased states - then the cell starts to malfunction very seriously. And there is a whole array of diseases that are now being tied to damage to this DNA - Parkinson's and quite a lot of neuro-degenerative diseases, but above all the whole process of aging."

Research published in 2007 for the UK's Foods Standards Agency suggests that sodium benzoate (E211) is linked to hyperactive behaviour and decreased intelligence in children.
On September 6, 2007, the British Food Standards Agency issued revised advice on certain artificial food additives, including sodium benzoate (E211). Professor Jim Stevenson from Southampton University, and author of the report, said: "This has been a major study investigating an important area of research. The results suggest that consumption of certain mixtures of artificial food colours and sodium benzoate preservative are associated with increases in hyperactive behaviour in children.

Read the labels carefully before you eat anything. It's important to know what you're eating especially if you are encountering specific health related issues! Simply avoiding certain additives or ingredients can make big differences in how you feel! Whenever possible eat as organic and natural as possible. Clean Air, Pure Water and Natural, Organic, Whole Food is the nutrition our bodies thrive on.

The Danger in our Food Supply

As a safety precaution for my family I subscribe to the FDA Recall e-mail notification system. It notifies us of any recalls done by the FDA and why they are doing them. You can subscribe for yourself at http://www.fda.gov/ .

This release came in my e-mail yesterday and shows a major problem with our food supply. The safety of our food supply and it's importance to our health cannot be understated. As we continue to outsource our farming to countries with unstable governments and economies we put ourselves in greater risk of outbreaks of food poisoning.

Simply Fresh Fruit Announces Nationwide Recall of Some Fresh Cut Fruit Products Containing Cantaloupe Due to Possible Salmonella Contamination
Contact:Simply Fresh Fruit(323) 586-0000
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- Los Angeles, California -- March 27, 2008 --- Simply Fresh Fruit, of Los Angeles, California is recalling selected fresh cut fruit products which may contain cantaloupe which has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. On March 26, 2008, Simply Fresh was requested by its supplier, Tropifresh, Inc to recall products produced with cantaloupe from Agropecuaria Montelibano. Simply Fresh had begun to recover this product earlier, on March 24, based on a notice published By the U.S. FDA.

The products being recalled include: Simply Fresh Fruit Brand food service Fruit Mix in Syrup products dated “sell by 4 – 18 08” or earlier, food service Cantaloupe Chunks in Syrup products dated “sell by 4 – 08 8” or earlier, and retail and club store Simply Fresh, Fresh Cut Fruit Brand containing cantaloupe dated “sell by 3 – 29 8”or earlier. Retail and club store products involved were removed from sale prior to Monday, March 24. Foodservice distributors who sell their own brand, have been notified, and are recalling the products involved. Foodservice products are packed in plastic pails or jars, and retail products are packed in plastic trays.

Symptoms of food borne Salmonella infection include nausea, vomiting, fever, diarrhea, and abdominal cramps. In persons with poor health or weakened immune systems, Salmonella can invade the bloodstream and cause life-threatening infections.

Ok, Simply Fresh??? From Agropecuaria Montelbano??? This is in Argentina! Do you know what the condition of farming and produce processing and shipping is in Argentina right now? The farmers are striking against the government due to various labor problems. It is the largest agricultural stike there in 30 years. What does that mean to our "fresh produce"? Salmonella. If you'd like further info on the strike in Argentina go to http://www.diarioel9dejulio.com.ar/index.php and if you can't read Spanish Google does translation.

Again unless we begin to value the farmers this will continue to happen! And, unless you know where your food is coming from and how it's grown and processed you put your family at risk of food poisoning. So, grow what you can. Grow it organically. Eat it fresh. Eat it raw. Support the farmers. They are producing the real medicines our body needs. Help them to do it organically by lobbying for subsidizing organic farming practices.

URI InstaFresh Drying Process

The core of URI International's nutritional program begins with URI Concentrated Whole Food Nutritional Products, proper diet, pure water and exercise. URI's superior whole food concentrates provide a synergistic source of thousands of naturally occurring nutritional compounds that can only be obtained from Live Whole Foods. Their proprietary low-temperature InstaFresh Drying Process concentrates live whole foods and fresh, raw juices into nutrient dense, great tasting, juice powders for the ultimate in all natural, convenient, cost effective nutrition.

For over two decades, David Uri Lebaron, Founder/CEO of URI International, has passionately pursued and perfected a proprietary and revolutionary low-temperature InstaFresh Drying Process that preserves the nutritional integrity of fresh, whole foods. This revolutionary process enables URI to provide a more cost effective and convenient way for you to consume the naturally balanced form of nutrition your body needs.

The InstaFresh Drying Process concentrates live whole foods and fresh raw juices into nutrient dense, unpasteurized, great tasting, juice powders for the ultimate in all natural and convenient nutrition - within 30 seconds! During this 30 second process, the product temperature averages 65 degrees and never exceeds 100 degrees, which is considered an extraordinary achievement in the food drying industry. All of this is accomplished within hours of harvest! The short period of time between harvest and the locking of the natural life force of the whole foods into a powder form is one of the critical reasons why URI International's products are the most nutritionally dense in the industry today!

Using URI's InstaFresh process ensures that the fresh whole food powder concentrates retain much of their naturally occurring, synergistically compounded vitamins, minerals, ORAC value, live enzymes, antioxidants, amino acids, phytonutrients, co-factors, in their natural balance - just as Nature intended! Even the flavor and aroma are preserved. All of this is achieved without pasteurization or the use of any preservatives. The result is a nutrient dense, whole food powder concentrate that is easily broken down and digested by your body.

The benefits of these organic, raw, live whole food powders are as spectacular as the process itself. Many people are reporting that their youthful energy and clarity of thinking is being restored. Most wonder how they functioned without it! The preventative benefits are also exciting. Everyone knows the importance of eating 5-9 servings of fresh, organic, live fruits and vegetables. Now we can enjoy the health benefits of these powerful fruits and vegetables in an affordable powdered form that you mix with your favorite food or beverage. Tomorrow I will discuss the controlled, organic growing process used by URI International and some of the exotic superfoods in their product line.

URI International

My next series of blogs will be related to a nutritional supplement company called URI International. I have been using their supplements for about 4 months now and I can honestly say that they are the best supplements that I have ever taken!

Uri International is a manufacturer and supplier of innovative nutritional products with a special emphasis on superior concentrated whole food based nutrition. It was the whole food part that first attracted me to this company. You see, I believe that nutrition should come in it's most natural and organic form to be fully used by our bodies. Synthetic vitamins do not contain the synergy or balance of nutrients that whole food does nor do they include the live enzymes necessary for our bodies to break down and digest the nutrients.

Uri has their corporate offices in Cedar City, Utah which is where they have their processing, packaging and shipping facilities. Only the finest ingredients are used to create each URI International product. URI assures the quality of each ingredient through strict control standards, growing requirements and testing methods. URI's whole food based product line is never pasteurized or irradiated and does not contain any preservatives, fillers, exipients, additives, dairy, MSG or GMO. All ingredients used are either organic, certified organic or are free of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers!

My wife, children and I have been drinking "THE FEAST" and "BEYOND BERRIES" and we can definitely feel the difference. I have shared it with several co-workers and friends who all drink the juice daily. One secretary has said that she doesn't know how she's gone without it! Another said that she never had so much energy midday. She gave up her afternoon nap. You have to try it to experience the benefits yourself. Uri even backs up their wonderful products with a 90 day unconditional guarantee. Simply try this live whole food based InstaFresh juice powder for 90 days and you will see why I believe "THE FEAST" is the most powerful and effective nutritional product on the market! But, if for any reason you are not satisfied, send it back for a complete refund. You couldn't take it away from the people that I have shared it with!

URI International has unlocked the secret process (more on the InstaFresh process in a later post) to real nutrition and getting our 5 to 9 servings of fresh, live, organic fruits and vegetables daily in a powder that is convenient, cost effective, and IT TASTES GREAT! For years I was searching for a decent tasting "green drink" and was taking the latest super berry juices all in an effort to support my body and health with the best that nature has to offer. Finally, with The Feast, I have found what I was looking for in one delicious drink. Compare the label on The Feast with any other supplement. No other supplement has the quality and quantity of LIVE ORGANIC WHOLE SUPER FOODS processed without additives or preservatives and with all of their nutritional benefits kept intact by using URI's proprietary low-temperature InstaFresh drying process.

Real Food

Is there such a thing as "fake food"? If so, why would we produce and consume it? What are the benefits and what are the problems with "fake food". I was looking at a video from "you tube" about the agricultural industry. This video condensed a 50 year agricultural philosophy in about 10 minutes! I strongly recommend to view it too! In fact, go to you tube and search "the future of food" and you can view the entire series.

Now I know that these videos are making a strong political statement as well as giving us information and statistics. Whether you agree or disagree with their stance on profitizing agriculture, you have to at least draw the conclusion that the food we are eating is far less nutritious than say 50 years ago.

Fake food might be called genetically produced or enhanced foods. Or, foods that have been so over processed that they look good but are nutrient deficient. In fact, if you look at the average supermarket apple it looks better than the apples we bought years ago. These apples shine! They look beautiful! But they don't compare in taste or nutrition to the apples my grandfather grew in his backyard without chemicals! The peaches used to have fuzz on them and you needed a napkin to catch the juice when eating one! Today's peaches look great, minus the fuzz, but taste horrible and have no juice at all!

So I guess my definition of fake food would be food that looks real, wholesome, and nutritious but has lost its original nutritional value and a lot of its texture and smell. Food grown in water with chemicals as the food's food instead of food grown in nutrient dense soil from natural seeds, nurtured organically and with their original DNA intact.

I'm glad I found an affordable solution to the nutrient issue howbeit I may never eat a peach with fuzz again. I found a live, nutrient dense, whole food product, grown under strict organic principals that is quick dried and sent fresh to my home. I just mix it with water or juice and I have all the orac benefits of eating 7 fruits and vegetables plus the advantage of LIVE Enzymes and Probiotics. I think 'The Feast" is so great that I joined the company as a distributor and am making money helping people stay healthy!

Look at those videos when you get a chance and stop by my site to get a risk free sample of "The Feast". You'll be glad you did!

Ed

USDA Food Pyramid

While doing some research the other day I came upon the new USDA Food Pyramid site. You can get there by going to http://www.mypyramid.gov/ Although I don't agree with everything found there, it will allow you to put in your gender, weight and height to receive a personal food pyramid. The pyramid is designed to tell you how much grains, vegetables, fruits, milk, meat and beans, oils, discretionary calories and, the new component, physical exercise you need.
It is always good to have a diversified, balanced diet with the right caloric intake. And, exercise is a main component to fitness. However I'm not sure about the milk and discretionary calorie categories. Milk can cause mucous problems and is usually found in it's pasturized form in the local stores. We discussed the problems with pasturization and how the process kills vital and necessary enzymes. There is also a sizable part of the population that is lactose intolorant in various degrees which can cause all sorts of allergic reactions.

And what about "discretionary calories"? Are they "discretionary" or "empty"? White flour, sugar and the like are not discretionary! They are detrimental to the health functioning of our bodies. Processed foods and preservatives are also in the same category. As stated in a previous article they also cause our taste buds to crave more of the same! Added salt and sugar cause the need for more added salt and sugar and can be traced to the increasing amount of people with high blood pressure and diabetes.

Other than these two areas the pyramid also does not address the need for the food we eat to be as organic as possible with the least amount of preservatives. I am not a hard core believer in "none of this or none of that" but if we are not careful our compromise can digress back into an unhealthy diet made up of over-processed, over-cooked, genetically altered foods that cause fatigue, depression and illness!

So stop by the government's site but (excuse the pun) read it with a dose of salt!

Remember, garbage in garbage out! Life in Life out! You are what you eat as far as your body is concerned!

May God give you wisdom and grace to become and remain healthy! 3 John 2 says, "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth."

The Feast, One Source For Complete Nutrition

To follow up my last post I'd like to talk about a new supplement I found called The Feast. With the decline in consumption of raw, fresh, organic, nuts, seeds, sprouts, fuits and vegetables the need for a live, natural, organic, raw food supplement becomes vital. Even if we could get a great variety of fruits and vegetables they are likely not to be fresh or grown under the conditions we would want. The use of pestisides and in-organic fertilizers compromise the quality of the produce. Then if we cook them we again reduce the life force of enzymes in the produce.

So the dilema of getting enough fresh, live, organic, raw produce becomes a real and important challenge for us to consider. We are alive and need food that is alive to keep us in optimal health and vitality!

I believe Iv'e found an all natural whole food supplement that can help! It's called The Feast. The Feast is a live whole food that delivers a full, synergistic spectrum of:

30 Antioxident Rich Fruits and Berries

30 Powerful Greens and Vegetables

11 Nutrient Dense Seed, Nuts and Sprouts

83 Active Enzymes

A Full Spectrum Fulvic Mineral Blend

and

22 Strains of Resilient Living Probiotics.

All in a convienient powder that you mix in water to re-constitute. It even has a naturally sweet berry flavor! I have been taking The Feast and can notice the difference it makes in my vitality, mental acuity and overall health. I also know the long term value of consuming live whole foods like Noni Fruit, Gogi, Pomegranate, Acai, Kalmath Lake Algae, Barley Grass, Spirulina, Flax Seed, Oat Bran, Wheat Sprout and the others that are in this product.

I thank God for leading David Uri Lebaron to formulate, process and produce a live food source like this in a time that we so desperately need it. The Bible states that our bodies are made to be the dwelling of the Holy Spirit and that we should glorify God in our bodies! We need to be sure that what we put in our bodies is healthy and beneficial for us and there is nothing more beneficial that that which God created for us to consume!
