Health, Wholeness and Spirituality

In the nation of Israel, the priests ministered not only to the spiritual needs of the people but to their physical needs as well. This is also true of the elders in the New Testament Church. When a believer is sick, he is not only to seek medical remedies; he is also to “… call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: and the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up …” (James 5:14–15).

The need to address both physical and spiritual problems simultaneously is because many sicknesses are the result of violating God’s laws and principles. Therefore, the instruction in James continues: “… And if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray for one another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much [makes much power available]” (James 5:15–16).

Not all sicknesses are the result of spiritual problems. They can also result from a lack of proper care for our bodies. A wise shepherd will find the still water and green pastures for his sheep. (See Psalm 23:2.) Doctors have observed that an effective way to achieve better health is by increasing the intake of pure water. This reduces strain on the kidneys and cleanses the body of harmful toxins. Another important factor in maintaining good health is eating the right amount nutritious food. Many of our diseases result from eating unhealthy foods or eating too much food.

Proper rest is also vital for good health. A wise shepherd will protect his sheep from too much work, exhaustion, and continual tension. “He maketh me to lie down …” (Psalm 23:2). However, in spite of following practical steps for good health, there still will be needs for deeper remedies and spiritual counseling.

5 WAYS TO BURN BODY FAT

1. Do cardiovascular exercises combined with resistance training 5 -6 days a week. I work out six days a week. If you don't know how to work out or just want a change, get a copy of my workout videos. Try and work out on an empty stomach. That way your body will release a hormone called glucagon to release stored body fat. If you want detailed information on this topic get a copy of my report "Maintaining muscle mass and increasing your metabolism while lowering body fat", we will e-mail this to you for free.

2. Eat six small meals a day. Take your ideal body weight multiply it by 10 and divide it by 6. Example; if you are a women and you want to weigh 120 pounds, 120 x 10 = 1200, divide by 6 = 200 calorie meals. After it has used the calories that it needs the body stores the extra calories as fat. Eating one large meal a day is extremely unhealthy and fattening.

3. Drink half your body weight in fluid ounces of purified water per day. If you weigh 200 pounds drink 100 ounces or 10, ten ounce glasses per day. Don't drink diet sodas. I have an article on Aspartame listed on my web site, healthmasters.com. Read it, copy it and send it to your family friends and anyone you care about. I use reverse osmosis or distilled water stored in a stainless steel tank or glass. I have used distilled water for 25 years. We carry both distillers and reverse osmosis units at my office. Just drinking more water will make you feel better. It's amazing most people run around in a chronic state of dehydration. Sip on the water throughout the day.

4. Don't eat white sugar, potatoes, dried fruit or fruit juices. These types of foods spike your blood sugar, which then spikes your insulin levels. Insulin is a storage hormone. Guess what the extra calories from these high glycemic foods are stored as, FAT!

5. Don't eat fat free meals. Fat helps to keep you full by slowing down the digestive process. Good fat is necessary to help you burn fat. Plus, the body in many of the metabolic processes uses fat. I drink "THE FEAST SUPERCHARGED" daily for a convienient whole food supplement.

Water

The importance of pure water cannot be overstated! Water makes up more than two-thirds of the weight of the human body. (Water also encompasses two-thirds of the planet!) Without water, humans die in a few days. All of our cells and organs need water to function. Water also serves as a lubricant and is the basis of saliva and the fluids surrounding the joints. Water can also help with weight control as thirst is sometimes confused with hunger and a glass of water can help overcome urges to eat. Water also helps with bowel function and the removal of waste from our body. Our body also uses water to regulate temperature.

So then, how much water is enough? One way to individually calculate how much you need is to take your weight in pounds and divide it by two. The result is the number of ounces of water you should drink a day. In so doing you can assure that this important element to our overall health and fitness is being taken care of. That's a lot you say? Then at least begin to realize this important component to your health and slowly work your way up to that amount. If you are obese then you will have to scale this amount down according to your level of obesity. You can start by using your ideal weight as a starting point and gradually increase as advised by your physician.

The felt improvements to your overall health will be noticeable in proportion to your current level of fitness and hydration. Some dieters notice a benefit in a week or so. Some folks that are constipated notice improvement in a few days. In severe dehydration improvement can be felt within hours. The unfelt benefits of proper hydration are hidden and sometimes never recognized but they are very real none the less!

A word of caution. You can drink too much water but in my 52 years of life I have never heard of anyone I know of even coming close. What type of water should we drink? For optimum health, experts recommend clean, spring water, or filtered water, and some experts advise against drinking tap water, fluoridated or distilled water. For health reasons, some experts advise us all to check the safety of our tap water supply, in order to ensure it is free from heavy metals, bacteria and other contaminants.

Water

I wanted to post another article on the importance and value of drinking enough water. I received a cute, easy to read e-mail from a good friend of mine with 8 great reasons to drink 8 or more glasses of water a day! Enjoy the e-mail!

WATER

#1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. (Likely applies to half the world population.)

#2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is mistaken for hunger.

#3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as 3%.

#4. One glass of water shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study.

#5. Lack of water is the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

#6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

#7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.

#8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%., and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.
Are you drinking the amount of water you should drink every day?

Water with lemon is also good for preventing Kidney stone formation and for flushing toxins out.

Eight reasons why we should drink at least eight glasses of water a day! Eight is the number for new beginnings in the Bible! Let's start a new beginning when it comes to water. Let's commit to drinking eight or more glasses per day and enjoy the health benefits this simple strategy will bring!

Water

Next to the importance of Air to our existance Water is necessary for life and health. Considering that most of the body consists of water we must be concerned with both the quantity and quality of the water we drink.

Many experts say we need a minimum of 64 ounces of water each day to promote health and wellness. Water helps maintain our temperature, helps to remove toxins from the body, keeps our skin (the largest organ of our body) hydrated and healthy, helps with circulation and even staves off hunger. In fact, sometimes when we feel hungry it is simply because we are dehydrated and a glass of water or two may be all we need to feel full again!

The quality of water is also important. I use a water cooler with purified water both in my home and office. Some tap water may have too much clorine or fluride to be considered healthy! Some experts say the only pure water is distilled water but it is often hard to find and a bit costly. Some chose to install water filters and that may be a good option or a waste of money depending on the filter used. I'm told that reverse osmosis filters are the best and can be installed in a main water feed to provide pure water to drink and wash with.

The Bible speaks a lot about water. It says that there was a river in the Garden of Eden that promoted life all around it. We see as we study history and cultures that communities often form mostly around a body of water due to the importance of this wonderful substance. More items are transported by water than any other means! In Psalms 46 it says, " There is a river, whos streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells.

Hence, the importance of H20 in our lives. It's importance can't be minimized! Next to air, it is the most necessary substance on earth and we must protect it and drink it daily for our lives here on earth depend upon it.
