The Next Three

Blueberry*

Native only to North America, these rich deep indigo berries with their prestigious five point flared crowns were once believed by the native American tribes to hold life giving power sent by the "great Spirit" to relieve hunger in the face of famine.Early American colonists made grey paint to cover the woodwork in their Shaker houses out of blueberry skins boiled in milk. Anthocyanins which are the blue-red flavonoid pigments that color the dark berries hold powerful antioxidants deep within their skins and fibers. One cup of blueberries will not only offer an array of vitamins such as Vitamin A, C,E, B1, B2, B3, but will also yield vital minerals including potassium, calcium, maganese, zinc, and iron. North America alone produces almost 90% of the blueberries in the world.

Pomegranate

Native to Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, Northern India and cultivated throughout the Mediterranean, this fruit has an ancient and extensive history. It has become a symbol to the Greek, Hebrew and Roman cultures finding expression through the ancient texts of the Bible as one of the seven fruits blessed to Israel. They are prominent in weddings, funerals, and in home decorations of modern day Greece, and they were once the personal emblem of the Holy Roman Emperor, Maximilian I, and Catherine of Aragon. The arils or the fleshy fruit skin surrounding the seeds, is the edible part of the fruit and they are packed with extraordinary amounts of antioxidant polyphenols, vitamin B, potassium, and panthothenic and ellagic acids.

Bilberry

The bilberry also known as Bleaherry, Whortleberry, or Huckleberry have distinguishing features that set them apart from their blueberry cousins. Even though they are little dark berries, they are not produced in clusters but in pairs and their fruit pulp is red or purple. They are also one of the first berries to ripen around Aug. 1 of the year giving them a rich cultural history throughout Great Britain in the new harvest celebration of Lughnasadh or Bilberry Sunday. On this Celtic holiday, the people climb the hills were the berries are picked, gathered in baskets, or threaded and given by the boys to the girl of their choice. They grow in the cool temperate mountainous regions of the northern and southern hemispheres and contain at least fifteen different anthocyanoside compounds, vitamins A & C, phenolic acids, zinc, iron and phosphorous.

"The Feast" Ingredient List Part Two

The Next Three

Acai Berry
Hidden away in the heart of the Amazon Rainforests of Brazil, the Acai berry has been a well kept secret nourishing the native tribes for thousands of years. Acai berries are seeds produced by the palm called "Euterpe Oleracea" in the Amazon. The berries are harvested as a dominant food staple for Cabolco populations and are even valued economically. In Northern Brazil Acai is traditionally enjoyed salty or sweet, mixed with tapioca, and served in a gourd called "cuias" by the locals. The berry contains high concentrations of fatty acids, rich polyphenol compounds that are high in antioxidants, iron, vitamin A, calcium, protein, fiber, and 19 amino acids.

Black Currant
For centuries this berry has been valued as an edible delicacy throughout Northern/Central Europe and Asia. Because the berry is so rich in Vitamin C, and citrus was not so readily available in the U.K. during World War II, the government actually encouraged crop production. From 1942 on, the nations crop yield was so extensive that the black currant crop was made into a cordial that was distributed to the nation's children for free giving lasting popularity to the berry. These dark berries contain many phenolic pigments with twice the antioxidants of blueberries, potassium, and 4 times more vitamin C than oranges!

Blackberry*
Native to Asia, Europe, and North and South America, and another fruit of the rose family, blackberries date back into history over 2,000 years. Superstitions in the UK claim that the berries belong to the devil after Sept 29 commonly known as Michalemas, but this folk lore story probably has more to do with the seasonal patterns of wet cooler weather that cause berry deterioration from mold growth. Native Americans utilized the fruit for consumption and the stems for strong rope. Blackberries contain antioxidant rich phenolic acids like anthocyanins, ellagic & gallic acids, vitamins A & C, potassium, calcium, and are also high in dietary fiber.

The First Three

Noni Fruit Noni is also called Morinda citrifolia, Indian Mulberry, Ach, Nono and "the starvation fruit". Because of its resiliency it has been able to spread from its native land of Southeast Asia into many other parts of the world including Australia, New Zealand, India, the Pacific islands, French Polynesia, the West Indies and South America.Although the fruit is bitter and has a strong smell, it has been known to provide nourishment in times of famine for centuries. Noni has been referenced in an ancient Sanskrit text called the Rig-Veda which dates back to at least 4,000 years and soldiers based on tropical Polynesian islands during World War II were taught by the natives to use the fruit for nourishment and strength. Noni fruit is an excellent source of carbohydrates, dietary fiber, protein, vitamins A, B3 & C, iron, potassium, and calcium.

Mangosteen Often called "The Queen of Fruits" this dense tropical and nutritional fruit has been known for its fantastic flavor, and was rumored to be the favorite fruit of Queen Victoria. It has been said that she once offered a cash reward to anyone who could bring her the Southeast Asian delicacy. The alluring oddities of this fragrant fruit are experienced in its light creamy texture with delicate hints of citrus and peach.Today we know that the nutritional components not only include Vitamin C, B1 & B2, iron, calcium, potassium, protein, and niacin, but also prove to be the richest source of Xanthones that hold potent antioxidants and biologically active plant phenols. Mangosteens are also nature's pesticides holding a natural acid that actually deters insects!

Wolfberry-Goji Renowned in Asia and referred to as "red diamonds" this bright red berry has been cultivated in the floodplains of the Yellow river, Ningxia, and the mountains of Western Xinjiiang China, for over 600 years and continues to be the world's largest supplier. The region of Ningxia located on the Northwest Loess Plateau, holds a traditional festival celebrating the annual berry harvest each August. The berry has a wide range of nutritional benefits like 11 essential and 22 trace minerals, 18 amino acids, 8 polysaccharides, 6 monosaccharides, protein, more beta carotene than carrots, as well as, 5 unsaturated fatty acids, and antioxidant rich phenolic pigments.

Here We Go Again

Salmonella Poisoning Spreads to 16 States
By MATT MYGATT,
AP

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (June 7) - Salmonella food poisoning first linked to uncooked tomatoes has spread to 16 states, federal health officials said Saturday. Investigations by the Texas and New Mexico Departments of Health and the U.S. Indian Health Service have tied 56 cases in Texas and 55 in New Mexico to raw, uncooked, tomatoes.

"We're seeing a steady increase," Deborah Busemeyer, New Mexico Department of Health communications director, said Saturday. An additional 50 people have been sickened by the same Salmonella "Saintpaul" infection in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Oklahoma, Oregon, Utah, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin, the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported.

Investigators are trying to determine if raw tomatoes also are responsible for the illnesses in those states, said Arleen Porcell, a CDC spokeswoman. The source of the tomatoes responsible for the illnesses has not been pinpointed, but health officials in Texas and New Mexico said none of them was grown in those two states. At least 23 people have been hospitalized, and no deaths have been reported, she said. Patients ranged in age from 1 to 82.

The rarity of the Saintpaul strain and the number of illnesses "suggest that implicated tomatoes are distributed throughout the country," she said.Interviews conducted with 73 people found the illnesses began between April 16 and May 27, Porcell said. Cherry tomatoes, grape tomatoes, tomatoes sold with the vine still attached and homegrown tomatoes are likely not the source of the outbreak, Busemeyer said. Also not associated with the outbreak are raw Roma, red plum and round red tomatoes from Arkansas, California, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Belgium, Canada, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Israel, Netherlands and Puerto Rico, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Association.

Salmonella is a bacteria that lives in the intestinal tracts of humans and other animals. It usually is transmitted to humans by eating food contaminated with animal feces. Most infected people suffer fever, diarrhea and abdominal cramps starting 12 to 72 hours after infection. The illness tends to last four to seven days. Many people recover without treatment, but severe infection and death is possible.

This news report again goes to show that unless you grow your own produce you have to be very careful where you get it from. Thank God it's summer time here in the Northeast and my veggies are already planted. In fact I picked some fresh Basil for my sauce today!

We must lobby the government for safer more organic/natural growing, packaging and shipping practices. After air and water, our food supply is most important. Also by enjoying "THE FEAST" each day I know I'm getting the advantage of over 60 organically grown fruits, berries, greens, nuts, seeds and sprouts. And I'll never have to worry about a recall! And at about $1 per serving the only way to do this is to grow it all yourself!

Best Organic Whole Food Juices

URI‘s Live Whole Based InstaFreshTM Powder Drink Mixes are not only nutrient dense, but convenient to take, lifestyle friendly and TASTE GREAT!

URI takes live whole foods and fresh, raw juices (many organic), and dries them using their own unique low-temperature InstaFreshTM Drying Process. Then they combine them into easy-to-mix, great tasting, concentrated powdered drink mixes. This unique process helps maintain the nutritional integrity of the vital living nutrients and live enzymes intact.

There are NO synthetic vitamins, inorganic minerals, and no pasteurization or preservatives. All natural! URI's products are so incredible that you really have to experience them yourself! With today's fast paced lifestyles most people are eating so few fresh fruits and vegetables, and consuming mostly cooked and processed food, they are NOT getting the "LIFE" in and from their foods. They are simply just not eating the healthy diets that their bodies were intended to have.

The name 'URI' in Hebrew means, "Light". And light is what puts true "LIFE" in our foods, and ultimately, in our bodies. URI's live whole food based InstaFreshTM Juice powders "UnLeash the Life Within!"URI International has many outstanding products. Their 3 Core Products are: The Feast, The Feast SuperCharged and Beyond Berries.

The FEAST is URI's Flagship Product. It is a GREAT TASTING, power packed, nutrient dense, LIVE Whole Food Based InstaFreshTM Juice Powder Drink Mix. The Feast contains a FULL Synergistic Spectrum of fruits, berries, greens, vegetables, nuts, seeds, sprouts, minerals, enzymes and probiotics. For health conscious people seeking the best in cutting edge nutritional products -- the Feast is it.
30 Antioxidant Rich Fruits & Berries
30 Powerful Greens & Vegetables
11 Nutrient Dense Seeds, Nuts & Sprouts
83+ Active Enzymes & Fulvic Minerals
22 Strains of Resilient Living Probiotics

THE FEAST SuperCharged is the same blend of superior ingredients as The Feast with the addition of 6 naturally caffeinated Berries, Seeds & Leaves. It is an "all-natural" superior alternative and a much healthier replacement for coffee, tea and sugar or, high fructose corn syrup laden or artificially sweetened sodas and energy drinks.

BEYOND BERRIES is a supreme blend of 15 of the most nutrient dense and antioxidant rich fruits and berries from around the world. Plus the same fulvic mineral, enzyme and living resilient probiotics blend that is in the FEAST! Each serving of Beyond Berries provides more antioxidant rich fresh fruit and berry concentrates per serving than any other fruit or berry supplement on the market.

Tasting Samples:Try each one by itself. Mix a packet in 4-6 oz. of cold water. Most people like to add a few ice cubes and we highly recommend using our unique shaker cup as that gets the best results. Most people think "The Feast" and Beyond Berries simply TASTE GREAT by themselves!. And kids REALLY love them. The SuperCharged Feast has some green tea, green coffee bean, and stimulating herbs like guarana (that contain a mild amount of naturally occurring caffeine), and it is not as naturally sweet tasting as The Feast. If needed, you can add the Beyond Berries or The Feast to the SuperCharged to give it a fruitier and sweeter taste. Or simply add the SuperCharged or any of the powdered mixes to your favorite juice, smoothie, yogurt, etc.

If for any reason you do not like the taste, or you just want the ultimate in convenience, all 3 varieties are available in vegetarian capsules. There are a lot of "Green Drinks and Whole Food Formulas" on the market. But our opinion customers have discovered that "The Feast" is the best tasting and most nutrient dense Green Whole Food based Drink on the market. And when you look at the proprietary low temp InstaFreshTM processing, the quality of ingredients, the variety and quantity of the live whole food and fresh raw juice based powder concentrates in the Feast, you will be amazed that URI International has been able to create something so nutritious, taste so great, and offer it at such a low price!

Just as a reminder, URI International is so confident that you will be absolutely delighted with our nutrient dense, live, Whole Food based products, that we back them up with our unconditional, iron-clad 90-day money back guarantee! Experience URI's products yourself risk free. Try any URI International Live Whole Food Based InstaFreshTM Juice Products for 90 days, and if you are not 100% satisfied for ANY reason you will be refunded 100% of the purchase price!

Eat Well On The Run!

Are you always on the run? Do you never seem to have quite enough time in the day? Lack of time can be a major reason why many people give up eating right, but you don't have to. In fact, healthy eating is more important than ever when you're trying to keep up with a hectic schedule!

A good diet helps your body withstand stress better. But as you're hustling through your day, you're probably not thinking about making your next meal a healthy one. The following tips can help you eat well when you're dinning in or out.

In Restaurants:
Tempting menus, large portions, and festive atmospheres make it easy to skip healthy eating. Splurging once in awhile is okay, but you'll begin to pack on pounds if you make it a habit. Be smart when you eat out!

Choose restaurants wisely. Restaurants that offer a variety of foods are a good choice. Try going Asian or vegetarian. They will give you a lot of tasty options. Be careful at the all-you-can-eat buffets! Have a big salad with low fat dressing and a soup first.

Pass on the bread and butter, useless carbs and fat!
Drink water before going to the restaurant not during your meal...fluids may hinder digestion when eating.
Order soup made with broth rather than cream to reduce the fat.
Get your salad dressing, gravies and sauces on the side so you can control the portion.
Opt for raw, steamed, poached, broiled, baked, grilled, roasted, stir-fried, or lightly sauteed foods. The less heat applied to your foods the better!

If the restaurant servings are large, and most are, split it or immediately doggy-bag half your meal for the next day. Eat the same portions out that you do at home.
Opt for fresh fruit for dessert.
Order a la carte. It might cost more, but your portions are likely to be smaller and you have a better chance of getting just what you want, the way you want it, healthy!

Feeling like eating out is no fun? Don't overwhelm yourself by taking on these tips all at once – every time you visit a restaurant pick one or two of the options and enjoy your meal. If you do it often enough, before you know it they will be habits rather than options you feel you have to take.

In Airports
Airports can be stressful places. But don't scrap your diet because of it. Eat because you're hungry, not because you're stressed, bored, or trying to kill time. If you're anxious or have time to spare, take a walk. Airports usually have plenty of room for a brisk jaunt. Bring your own food if you don't want to eat fast food. Some fruit, raw vegetables, healthy granola bar, or cut-up cheese can ward off those unwanted calories while satisfying your hunger. Bring some packets of "THE FEAST" and your URI shaker cup and enjoy a refreshing nutritional boost!

In Fast Food Places
If you find your only option is fast food, check out different menus – some fast food places have healthier choices than others. Most serve high carb, high fat (comfort food...what a phrase!). Don't be afraid to ask the manager for the restaurant's nutritional information sheet – most fast food places have them posted and pamphlets available upon request. Remember, an informed customer is a healthier customer.

Watch portion sizes – no need to supersize.
Seek out deli-style fast food, they make it the way you want it – healthy.
Trade in the fries for healthier options – side salad (dressing on the side), fruit cup or veggies.
Chicken isn't always the healthiest choice – get grilled vs. fried and breaded.
Hold the mayo.
Drink water or diet soda vs. regular soda.
Be careful with salads – the dressing, bacon bits and shells they come in could mean lots of extra calories!
Skip the milk shakes.

In Your Office or Car
I keep a spare shaker cup in my car and office with packets of "The Feast" to feast on when I need a nutritional boost or am feeling hungry. If you only have 15 minutes for lunch between meetings, don't ransack the snack machine. Be ready for a quick meal or snack by stocking your office or car with a few other staples:
Bottled water
Soup or oatmeal if you have a microwave at the office
Raisins, apricots, or other dried fruits
Protein powder
Nuts and healthy trail mix
Healthy granola bars
Pack a nutritious lunch of raw vegetables and chicken or turkey in the morning and bring it with you to work it will save you money, time and provide better nutrition .

In Your Home
Mornings and evenings are especially busy times in many homes today. Making time to eat well can be a real challenge. Don't run out the door without breakfast. I start each day with a delicious shake with soy milk or low fat yogurt, a scoop each of "THE FEAST SUPERCHARGED", "BEYOND BERRIES", and designer protein powder. It satisfies me and gets my day off to a great nutritional start!

Sometimes we slip up. We overeat or pick less healthy foods because they sound good, we're stressed, or we just feel like it. Healthy eating is a lifelong goal. If one meal isn't healthy, make sure the next one is. If you overdo it one day, eat less the following day. And don't forget to work at physical activity. At least 30 minutes, five or more times a week, can help you maintain your weight and health.

Ed

Organic Vitamins vs Synthetic Vitamins

Is there a difference? Today many respectable people insist that synthetic and natural vitamins have identical molecular and chemical structure. Thus, they insist that synthetic vitamins are just as effective as natural vitamins.

When I talk about natural, organic or whole food supplements, I'm speaking of products that contain the total complex family of micro-nutrients (known and unknown) just as they are found in nature, alive! These micro-nutrients, pro-biotics, live enzymes are indispensable for proper vitamin absorption and maximum utilization. That's the only way you can have optimum nutrition. Synthetic vitamins lack this wonderfully marvelous supporting family.

According to http://www.nutriteam.com/natural.htm , "the difference between synthetic and natural vitamins becomes apparent when viewing their response to a beam of polarized light. The light when passing through a natural vitamin will always bend to the right due to it's molecular rotation. Thus the letter "d" (representing "dextro" which means "right") often appears on labels. However, the same light ray when passing through a synthetic vitamin will split into two parts, one part bending to the right and the other to the left. Because the synthetic vitamin is half "dextro" (right) and half "levo" (left), the letters "dl" often appear on labels at the beginning of the synthetic name.

A synthetic vitamin is like the image in a mirror. It looks like the real thing but doesn't function like the real thing. Half of it will work in the body and the other half won't work as well. Dr. Charles Schneider, Ph.D., professor of Chemistry, University of Cincinnati concluded wisely, "Get the vitamins that say natural. There is a difference. The "dl" (synthetic) will be cheaper, but if you could figure it out per energy unit or per use, the natural one will be cheaper."

Can you afford $1 a day? That's right....each serving of "THE FEAST" is about $1. For a dollar you get the best live whole food product on the planet that delivers a full, synergistic spectrum of:

Our alternative is to eat freshly picked, organic foods, grown in soil that has been re-mineralized, then served raw or slightly cooked, in a way that is as close to their natural form as possible. You would also need to eat whole grain breads/pastas made from flour ground fresh daily. However, few of us can spend our entire day hunting, gathering, and carefully preparing our food!

Juice Fasting

What is Juice Fasting?
Juice fasting is a form of detoxification diet where only fruit and vegetable juices are consumed for a certain period of time. Usually, A person will embark on a juice fast for 1 to 7 days. The purpose of juice fasting is to help the body eliminate toxins and to help with weight control. Every second of every day your body is bombarded with toxins. There are toxins in the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the food we consume. There are toxins in the products we use to clean our homes, the clothes we wear, and even in the products we use to shower or bathe.

It is believed that environmental toxins accumulate in the body's eliminative glands and organs. Therefore, there are different types of juice fasting programs that target areas such as the liver, kidneys, gallbladder, skin, brain, immune system, etc.

Juice fasting is also used for spiritual purposes. Many people use juice fasting as an aide in eliminating unhealthy habits such as smoking, drinking alcohol, or caffeine addiction. Some people use juice fasting as an alternative health regime. Oftentimes, juice fasting is incorporated with other healing modalities to help combat health problems such as depression, arthritis, chronic pain, autoimmune disease, heart disease, and cancer.

The traditional way to embark on a juice fast requires a juicing machine or "juicer". There are many types of juicers available including manual, battery operated, and electrical. They range in price from $30 to $300 or more.

Also, It is recommended to use only organic fruits and vegetables when juice fasting. Unfortunately, most commercially grown fruits and vegetables contain numerous herbicides, pesticides, and fungicides. Therefore, it's crucial to purchase organic fruits and vegetables because the whole point of fasting to eliminate toxins, not put more into the body.

An alternative to the above is to use a product like "THE FEAST". It includes the best combination of Fruits, Berries, Greens, Nuts, Seeds and Sprouts in a convenient all-in-one live concentrated whole food "Instafresh Juice". It is non-pasteurized and preservative free. It also is more affordable, more convenient and provides a wider variety of fresh, live whole produce than can be gotten or even grown locally!

Juice fasting is not for everyone, so it's important to consult with a qualified health professional before embarking on a juice fast. Women who are pregnant or nursing should avoid juice fasting altogether. People with chronic health problems such as diabetes, asthma, low blood sugar
or kidney disease, cancer, colitis, or epilepsy should also avoid juice fasting unless under strict supervision from a qualified health professional.

Juice fasting can interfere with prescription drugs. It is crucial for anyone who is taking prescription medications to consult with a skilled professional to determine if juice fasting is appropriate. Grapefruit juice and pomegranate juice should never be used during a fast when a
person is taking prescription medications because they can increase the effect of drugs in the body. Also acidic fruits like orange and lemon should not be used when juice fasting as they have too much acid and can cause problems with indigestion or worse.

Common side effects of juice fasting include headaches, fatigue, constipation, acne, increased body odor and bad breath. Typically, these side effects are temporary and will disappear once juice fasting is completed.

Not only does juice fasting help eliminate toxic waste from the body, it also provides an abundant supply of vitamins, minerals and enzymes. When juicing whole, fresh fruits and vegetables, you are providing your body with a living fuel that requires no digestive energy. In turn, this gives the body a break and allows it to focus on healing and rejuvenation.

The most important thing to remember is that you should always use fresh organic
fruits and vegetables. Commercially grown produce contains high levels of toxins including herbicides, pesticides, and fungicides. If you use commercially grown fruits and vegetables for juice fasting, you are defeating the purpose as you will only be adding more toxins to the body.

While most skins of organically grown fruits and vegetables may be left on, you should remove the skins from pineapples, oranges, papaya, melons, and kiwi fruit. Certain parts of fruits and vegetables should not be juiced including the pits in fruits such as apricots, peaches and cherries. Additionally, citrus peels, apple seeds, tops of root vegetables such as carrots or rhubarb, or
the tough outer skin of bananas, plantains, and avocados should not be juiced.

The best ingredients for a juice fast include: apples, beets, cranberries, carrots, celery, cabbage, kale, pineapple, spinach, and leafy green vegetables. Other common fruits and vegetables used in juice fasting include cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli and cauliflower. Root vegetables such as sweet potatoes and yams. Greens such as parsley, kale, chard and dandelion leaf. Herbs such as ginger and wheatgrass. All of which and more are included in "THE FEAST".

Individuals who consume high levels of caffeine are likely to experience severe headaches when embarking on a juice fast. Therefore, it is recommended to gradually decrease caffeine consumption one to two weeks prior to starting a juice fast or use "The Feast Supercharged" which incorporates Guarana, Green Tea Extract, Green Coffee Bean and DMAE.

Oftentimes people who embark on a juice fast will experience skin outbreaks. This is because the skin is the most effective way for the body to eliminate toxins. Typically, these side effects are temporary and will disappear once juice fasting is completed and can also be reduced by "Dry Buffing" the skin daily with a loofah.

The Energetic Jay, "The Juiceman" Kordich tells us about the important health benefits of juicing. He should know. He reportedly cured himself of bladder cancer using an all-juice diet.
Not only did Kordich introduce the American public to juicing through his infomercials, he went on to write "The Juiceman's Power of Juicing", which became number one on the New York Times Best Sellers list with more than two millions copies sold.

The type of juice fast you embark on will depend on what you are trying to achieve. It's a good idea to conduct research via the Internet or visit your local library and check out books on the subject.
